 Keynote Speaker: Prof. Johnson D. M. Kinyua

 We are honoured to welcome Prof. Johnson D. M. Kinyua, a distinguished scholar and internationally recognised researcher, as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Sustainable Smart   Cities 2026 Conference.

 With a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge and more than three decades of academic, research, and leadership experience across Africa, Europe, and the United   States, Prof. Kinyua brings a wealth of expertise to our 2026 event.

 Prof. Kinyua’s research spans cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, multi-agent systems, RFID systems, distributed databases, and intelligent systems e   engineering.

 His recent work includes pioneering contributions in AI/ML-powered security orchestration and response (SOAR), financial sentiment analysis using BERT-based models, and wildlife   movement modelling for human–wildlife conflict mitigation.

 Having authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters, Prof. Kinyua has advanced cross-disciplinary innovation in areas that align strongly   with sustainable smart cities, digital transformation, and resilient socio-technical systems—core themes of the SUSCITY conference.

 He has held senior academic leadership positions, including Director and Acting Dean at the Central University of Technology (South Africa), Dean of the School of Computer   Information Systems at Virginia International University, and currently serves as Professor at Penn State University. Prof. Kinyua has also contributed extensively to curriculum   development, postgraduate supervision, accreditation panels, and global collaborative research projects.
